The Southwest Center for Independent Living Youth Services program include transition classes that focus on learning independent living skills, advocacy for educational endeavors such as implementation of IEP's and 504 plans, driver's education, community resource management, social events and much more. SCIL recognizes that youth with disabilities encounter particularly special challenges and offers the support to conquer those challenges.
Disability Benefits/Community Resource Management:
SCIL can answer the confusing questions about disability benefits and help with the process. We can help you make connections throughout the community to gather all the resources you will need.
Your Life Youth Group:
Your Life is a weekly after school program for youth ages 16-25 with disabilities. The group focuses on independent living skills that are pertinent to the transition process. High school students meet every other week with the post- high school youth meeting the opposite weeks at Southwest Center for Independent Living. IEP Advocacy:
Youth advocates are trained to understand the IEP process and are here to help if you are not sure of the process or would like someone to help you through it.
Transitions:
Youth advocates can help you learn the skills you need to become a successful and independent. Staff can help you find organizations for every step of the way!
