Our goal is to help reduce or eliminate the symptoms or problems of mental health disorders or disabilities by improving a person’s mental health, so he or she can function in normal life activities and reach independent living goals.

Curtis L. Jones, MSW, LCSW
Since March 2011, Curtis L Jones has provided Mental Health Counseling Services through the Southwest Center for Independent Living (SCIL) for people with disabilities. He specializes in adjustment to disability counseling and support. Jones received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry in December 1986 from Evangel University with a minor in Biology, followed by graduate work in Food Science from the University of Minnesota. His compassion for others guided him to social work and in 2000, Curtis began working for Bridges of Missouri in transitional home and community support. This led to practicum experience with the Missouri Adult Head Injury program of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services–Bureau of Special Healthcare Needs and at SCIL. In 2003 he received a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Missouri State University and in 2006 began working at SCIL as a Consumer Directed Services Specialist. Curtis obtained his Missouri License for Clinical Social Work (LCSW) in September 2007. He is a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the NASW-MO Chapter, as well as a member of the Brain Injury Association (BIA).
