Day at the Range & Outdoor Adventure Fair 2011 - 8th Annual Photo Gallery
8th Annual Day at the Range & Outdoor Adventure Fair
What a gorgeous day for fishing, target shooting, outdoor crafts, and a barbeque lunch. The actual attendance of the 8th annual DATR & OAF is at nearly 800 participants, volunteers, family and guests. We had 320 participants of which 177 were new to the event! In addition, 303 guests/family/friends and 146 volunteers attended. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event possible!
The morning started with a Scout troop of young boys with disabilities conducting the opening ceremonies. Then the fun and games began. Fishing, decorating gourd birdhouses, making bamboo wind chimes, and crafts were well attended at the pond area.
There was target shooting with pellet guns, shot guns and bows at the range as well as riding in the bud lift, making turkey wing-bone calls, building wooden bird feeders and houses and bamboo wind chimes. Educational booths included animal pelts, learning about rocks, birds, and primitive living. Some of the interesting booths that participated in this year’s event were Master Gardeners, Springfield Greene County Park Board – Valley Watermill Branch, Ken White with his accessible equipment, Mike Conner and his accessible pickup truck, and Jim Batson and his metal detecting equipment.
